Maxi Hoffmann is the person behind hap. She was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz. After having lived in Christchurch (New Zealand), Graz, Amsterdam, London and Düsseldorf, she ended up in Berlin. During her studies, she specialized in Product Design, which influenced her strongly.

Her will to create physical things directed her in 2017 to a pottery course by Ulrich Schmitz. That was the beginning of something beautiful, and Maxi put all her passion into the creation of ceramics. One year later hap ceramics was founded.

She gradually shifted her focus away from conventional functionality, immersing herself in the exploration of forms, surfaces, and the outer limits of glazes. This approach gives a sculptural essence to her creations, endowing each object with a distinctive character.
